Rain Record Set Friday at Long Beach Airport

It was scant, but more than it's rained this day since1973.

It didn't take much to match a rain record at Long Beach Airport Friday. A mere trace tied the record for this date set in 1973, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain was caused by monsoonal moisture heading northwest from the Gulf of California, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Scott Sukup.

Another record setting day is not expected Saturday, as no rain is forecast for Long Beach Airport, Sukup said.
