Ceremony Honors Fallen Firefighters

The firefighting community and the loved ones of the firefighters who were among the 19 killed by a wildfire in Arizona last week will honor their fallen in locally on Wednesday.

The remains of the California firefighters, including Seal Beach native Kevin Woyjeck, 21, and Christopher MacKenzie, 20, will be retuned home to their families amid a ceremony at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base airfield.A color guard, pipe and drums band and firefighters from all over the state will attend to pay their respects.

Details of the ceremony are still being determined, including whether the public will be invited to pay their respects. Firefighters who wish to attend, should plan to arrive at the base by 11 a.m. in dress uniform. Attendees are asked to RSVP by call or texting 916-709-9069 or emailing nocal_last@cpf.org
