Summer Tradition of Long Beach Municipal Band Concerts in Parks Lasts Four More Weeks

The 104-year Long Beach Municipal Band takes the stage at El Dorado Park tonight after performing Thursday night at Marine Stadium in a beloved summer tradition of outdoor music. The band Friday night Thursday night will perform music from movies in a show that always starts at 6:30 p.m.

Remaining concerts through Aug. 1 will feature other themed music. Four nights a week, the band can be found performing at city parks. Their history and their schedule can be found here: http://www.longbeach.gov/park/recreation/lb_municipal_band.asp

The ensemble is led by conductor Larry Curtis and comprised of what the city calls the best of Southern California's symphony, studio recording and jazz performers." It has been called the longest running municipal band in the country.
