Hip-Hop Singer Nate Dogg, Born and Raised in Long Beach, Reportedly Dead at 41

Born Nathaniel Hale, he was a hip-hop hybrid with a beautiful voice who often rapped the chorus. Big hits included collaboration with Warren G, 2Pac and his cousin Snoop Dogg.

Hip-hop artist Nate Dogg, born and raised in Long Beach as Nathaniel Hale, has reportedly died at the age of 41. MTV.com confirmed Dogg's death with family but the cause of his death was not reported.

Nate Dogg had suffered a series of strokes starting in 1998 and was still having health problems, the website reported after midnight. http://rapfix.mtv.com/2011/03/16/singer-nate-dogg-passes-away/

Dogg's career took off with Regulate, a 1998 collaboration with Warren G. that topped pop music charts at #2. He was most successful performing with other artists, such as with his cousin, Snoop Dogg and Warren G, with whom he made this hit (right) on YouTube.

"He's known as the soul man of G-funk, and before his first album had ever been released, Nate Dogg made appearances on several huge hits: Regulate with Warren G, 2Pac's All Eyez on Me, and the soundtrack to Murder Was the Case," MTV wrote in its news story early Wednesday.
