Heart-Shaped 'Yarn Bombs' Hit Belmont

Over 500 crocheted hearts were placed along 2nd Street in Belmont Shore early this morning by a local knitter to celebrate Valentine's Day and her birthday.

In her blog post about the event, Sandra said she wanted to celebrate both Valentine's Day and her birthday, which falls on February 13th.  "The streets will be decorated in yarny splendor for my birthday," she said in a blog post.

With the help of her youngest son and a fellow knitter, Sandra worked through the early hours of the morning to ensure the hearts could be hung in as many places as possible.
