The Classical Ballet of Gyangzhou China presents "Cinderella"
In celebration of Long Beach Ballet’s 30th Anniversary, the Classical Ballet of Guangzhou from China will perform David Wilcox’s rendition of “Cinderella,” the ballet that he choreographed specifically for this Chinese Ballet company in 2005. Long Beach Ballet will feature two performances of “Cinderella,” one on Saturday, October 27that 8pm, and one on Sunday, October 28th at 2pm at the Long Beach Terrace Theater. The short ballet performance of the exquisite Chinese-themed "Butterfly Lovers" and "Yellow River,” will be performed on Saturday, October 27th at 2PM.
The award winning, Classical Ballet of Guangzhou has a strong artistic affiliation with the Long Beach Ballet. Collaboration between Long Beach Ballet's artistic director David Wilcox and the Chinese ballet company began 13 years ago when he staged his "Nutcracker" production for them and it became one of their most performed ballets. Wilcox was also responsible for organizing the company's first international tour in 1999. They, in turn, play host to Long Beach Ballet's annual three-week long performance tour titled "U.S. Ballet Ambassadors to China," in which 40 U.S. ballet students perform from one end of China to the other.
