Donate Instruments Today for Students

Long Beach Unified School District seeks to collect musical instruments so that local youths in need might have a chance to learn. Brother, can you spare a horn?

The Long Beach Unified School District is short of enough musical instruments to loan students that can't provide their own, so today a drive to collect donated ones kicks off at 9 a.m.

The goal of the drive is to collect new and used musical instruments to provide to students in the district. So, if you have an instrument collecting dust--that is in good shape and functional--still works, the local school district is asking that you donate it on Saturday.

The event will be held in Room C of the Teacher Resource Center, 1299 E. 32nd St., in Signal Hill, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Each donation will be tax-deductible.

The school district is specifically looking for violins, cellos, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets and trombones, but all instruments will be accepted.
