Upcoming Street Closures, 3rd District Road Construction

Appian Way Closures Begin April 25th.

Appian Way between Park Avenue and Nieto Avenue will be closed from April 25th through May 27th for construction on the long awaited rebuild of Appian Way between Park Avenue and Nieto Avenue, and the rebuild of Nieto Avenue between Appian Way and Colorado Street.

It is estimated that the entire project will be completed on Thursday, June 9th.  However, every effort will be made to complete this project in a shorter timeframe.

In addition to the newly repaved roads, the 3rd District Council Office is also working with local residents to add landscaping enhancements to either side of Appian Way between Colorado Street and Nieto Avenue.

During the closure, the following construction is scheduled to be performed: tree pruning, asphalt and concrete removal, dirt excavation, grading, import and placement of crushed rock base material, as well as concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk placement.

Following the major concrete and asphalt reconstruction completion at the end of May, the street will be open to traffic and the contractor will begin the cold milling operation to prepare the existing street for the placement of the new asphalt paving.  Intermittent detours will be required on Appian Way and Nieto Avenue during the milling and paving process.  This phase of construction is scheduled to last 3 days.
