City Collects 168 Guns in Buy Back Program: City officials announced Thursday that it collected 168 firearms during last Saturday's Gun Buy Back Program. Those who turned in guns received gift cards valued at $50, $100 or $200 depending on the type and condition of the firearm; a total value of $17,000 in gift cards was distributed. 

Alleged Playstation Pervert Lured Escondido Boy to Fly From Long Beach to Tampa: A man was arrested for luring an Escondido eighth grader to fly with him out of Long Beach Airport to Tampa after meeting him online through a Playstation video game, police said. A judge on Wednesday ordered him held without bail.

Update: Feds Target Marijuana Dispensaries in Long Beach: Federal authorities sent warning letters Tuesday to what it called 103 illegal marijuana dispensaries across Los Angeles County -- including all known dispensaries in Long Beach, Lancaster and Pearblossom -- in the latest enforcement action against the commercial marijuana industry in the state.
