Cal State Long Beach Will See 70,000 Attendees for 8,600 Degrees: Nine graduation ceremonies were held at California State University, Long Beach starting Wednesday and continuing until Friday, with 8,600 degrees bestowed upon 2012-13 students. The university reported that about 70,000 guests of graduates were expected on campus over the three days.

Born to Save Her Sister, Marissa Ayala Graduates CSULB a Generation Later: Marissa Ayala became a national media sensation before she was even born when her parents conceived her in hopes of giving birth to a bone marrow donor for her leukemia-stricken sister.

Now 23, Ayala has long been out of the headlines, but she earned some attention Wednesday when she graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a degree in speech pathology.

Human Trafficking Suspects Caught, May be More Victims: Two men have been arrested as suspects in human trafficking of women, who were kidnapped in Long Beach and forced into prostitution before they escaped in Culver City, police said. And detectives suspect there are more victims of the same crimes.
