Pirate Invasion Returns to Belmont Pier

The annual event put on by Alfredo's Beach Club offers live shows and activities for all ages, June 29 and 30.

Don’t be alarmed at the army of Jack Sparrow look-alikes swarming Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier next weekend. The Pirate Invasion of Long Beach returns June 29 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and June 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Alfredo’s Beach Club puts on the annual event, which brings together families and die-hard pirate re-enactors.

A packed schedule of live entertainment should attract more than last year’s 8,000 attendees. A live-action adaptation of Treasure Island put on by Following Seas Productions will be performed in four acts throughout the day, along with live music by Zen Robbi. Belly dancing, fire dancing, sword fighting and pirate battles on the beach are just a few other sights to see. Costume contests for adults and children will take place on the pier stage.
