Night Falls On Alamitos Bay

And what a lovely sight our everyday neighborhood is.

Captured this shot from the Second Street bridge waters at sundown Saturday, cycling over to Naples. Thought I'd share. Enjoy the evening.

To bad right up the street it all turns to shit and the city refuses to do anything about it. Take a picture of the Library downtown and see if a positive image of Long Beach still lingers in your mind. Belmont Shore, beautiful yes, surrounded by shit, low income apartments, drugs, homeless, criminals, crack heads, alcoholics, public drinking, public urination, thats what your pics should show. Maybe Mayor Foster will get up off his fat ass and do something, without a photo op to motivate him. Yeah after how long did we fnally get a new terminal at the airport? Now we can deliver the passengers to SHITSVILLE in style.

Does he know where belmont shore is located?

Move...if you don't like Long Beach. What a negative attitude you have.
Shane February 3, 2013 at 08:22 pm
Seal Beach stopped the busses from Long beach from coming to Seal Beach due to all the riff raff ruining their beautiful neighborhood.....The Passport would drop off the homeless camp from Downtown Long Beach to Seal Beach ruining the beauty there. Get a clue Long Beach, LOOK AROUND. Has anyone been to the library downtown? Why has the city buildings done NOTHING? Dosen't Mayor Foster have his office here? The area outside the library is full of homeless. Who uses the library? Who goes downtown? Is it safe? Why has the city not helped, moved, or cleaned up this area?

So true, T. I moved out of Long Beach a few years ago down to South OC. What a HUGE difference. I love it!
Johnny Utah February 4, 2013 at 01:01 pm
It's definitely a dump, shane.
Shane February 4, 2013 at 01:38 pm
Really? The Passport? They stopped the route to Seal Beach after the city complained? False report or smart move Seal Beach?

Bus Service Canceled Amid Allegations of Racism
A racially tinged feud between Seal Beach and Long Beach prompts Long Beach Transit to yank its Passport bus service to Seal Beach. By Paige Austin Email the author June 27,2012 Hurt feelings, harsh words and allegations of racism lobbed across the border between Seal Beach and Long Beach has led Long Beach Transit officials to pull its free Passport bus route from Seal Beach starting in August. The rift between cities has left hundreds of bus riders in the lurch, more than 300 of whom signed and submitted a petition Monday, asking Seal Beach leaders to bridge the divide. It may be too late.
John B. Greet February 4, 2013 at 02:47 pm
It will never be too late to admit that you were wrong about the reasons behind the route change, Shane.
As I recall, what it truly came down to was that LBT wanted to use larger buses on the route and those just could not be accomodated on the Seal Beach streets that the smaller Passport buses had been able to use.

John your a retired cop with way to much time on your hands. We can see all the posts you have posted. Seems you have a lot to say about pretty much any topic and any post. Go outside get some fresh air, turn the computer off, breath, relax, enjoy life. And maybe consider starting your own website where people that are interested in your thoughts/ideas/suggestions can go.
Nancy Wride (Editor) February 6, 2013 at 07:27 pm
Wasn't there also the need to cut the budget for LB Transit District anyway?
S.A.P. February 6, 2013 at 07:38 pm
I like John's posts & appreciate his service to the city.
Keep up the good work John, and thanks for posting a link the real story & not one that was slanted in order to make an exciting headline. I always wonder what cop haters do when they need a help from law enforcement. Suck it up & call 911 anyway?
Shane February 6, 2013 at 08:47 pm
See John there is ONE person who would join your website. Appropriately named "SmartAssPants". You have a following, may not be one to be proud of, but you do have one.
Nancy Wride (Editor) February 6, 2013 at 11:50 pm
SmartAPants, was there a Patch headline you thought was slanted? Just curious.
John B. Greet February 7, 2013 at 01:06 pm
Shane, despite your apparent need to try to impugn and offer insult to someone who has seen fit to correct one of your misperceptions, I think you might demonstrate a lot more character and maturity by simply acknowledging your error and moving on.
John B. Greet February 7, 2013 at 01:09 pm
Hi SmartAPants: Thanks for the kind words. For the record, though, I don;t believe it was The Patch or any of its headlines which covered the LBT/Seal Beach story erroneously. That was just Shane and his own comments here, which I then saw fit to correct.
John B. Greet February 7, 2013 at 01:11 pm
Hi ya Nancy! Yes, as I understand it, LBT is always challenged to cut its budget, primarily in the face of increasing fuel prices.
S.A.P. February 8, 2013 at 03:00 pm
"Shane" makes up a brand new account just to bash people on Patch, but I'm the one who loses credibility for refusing to use my name on a site like Patch where many unbalanced nut jobs post. Thanks for the laugh.
Shane February 8, 2013 at 03:21 pm
Right back at you SAP......
S.A.P. February 8, 2013 at 04:06 pm
"Right back at" me? LMAO
You have 5 posts, all bashing, all on this story. It is obvious you came in here with a bias toward certain people. You aren't going to claim you have no other name on Patch under which you post, are you? Riiiight. I, on the other hand, have posted here for years, and have a history, so your comment makes absolutely no sense. I am not surprised, but I am also not going to waste my time arguing with a troll.
Shane February 14, 2013 at 09:00 pm
Again, right back at you SAP, I am as well, tired of arguing with a "troll" as you so eloquently put it. How lucky the citizens of Long Beach are to have you as a represenative for them "for years", and yes I do believe you have a very long and sorted history. I just joined Patch, but between you and your buddy John have proven that the only ones with any sense are "T" and "Johnny Utah".

Prior to his election as a write-in candidate, Councilman Patrick O'Donnell told the Long BeachRead More Business Journal on February 28, 2012 the following:***** LBBJ: If you win the reelection, will you commit to a full four-year term?***** Councilman O'Donnell: If you run for four, you serve four. ***** LBBJ: So, you're not going to run for Assembly in two years? ***** O'Donnell: Correct. ***** LBBJ: No matter what? ***** O'Donnell: Correct. If you run for four, you serve four. ***** If you can't trust O'Donnell's word, why would anyone vote for him to be their representative for political office? ***** http://www.lbreport.com/news/jan13/odonlbbj.htm
Nancy Wride (Editor) June 3, 2013 at 02:22 pm
And do his supporters care about this, do you think? No doubt others will.
Mike Ruehle June 3, 2013 at 11:43 pm
Regarding, "do O'Donnell's supporters care?", many of O'Donnell's supporters are inRead More elected and appointed public positions, and their support of O'Donnell includes placing the financial burden of a $150,000 special election on the taxpayers. I would think that a responsible journalist would ask each of them about that issue.
This is what the new path will look like.
Richard May 31, 2013 at 10:54 am
This opinion piece is so full of self-serving hot air it could float. Two paths will make the beachRead More look like a freeway? The author clearly hasn't seen too many freeways lately. Speaking of seeing, if the author would care to spend a little time looking at the beach (which I do on a daily basis, as I live overlooking the Bluff) they would realize that the current bike/pedestrian path is the most heavily used and enjoyed segment of the beach from the Belmont Pier to Shoreline Village. On any given day, there will be hundreds of people on the paths, compared with a handful on the sand itself. The author inadvertently makes that point when he or she writes that the beach "...should be valued for its own recreational value." Clearly, many more people enjoy walking, running or bicycling on the path than on the beach itself. Give the people what they want, and not what a mysterious, nameless, faceless group is trying to block.
Shore Resident June 3, 2013 at 08:37 am
Uh, Richard? Opinion pieces are by nature self-serving and one sided. I'm not saying that is agreeRead More with the opinion, just saying that gordana can have her say.
