According to data compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey, Long Beach and Lakewood residents reported feeling the earthquake Wednesday morning.
Most residents who reported feeling the quake only reported feeling "weak" shaking.

The moderate earthquake was centered in the ocean off Santa Barbara rattled and struck at 7:38 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The extremely shallow quake struck in the Santa Barbara Channel 12 miles west of Santa Barbara with a magnitude of 4.6, which packs the punch to cause moderate damage.
