Photo Exhibition, Spill: Images From the Gulf

The Aquarium of the Pacific is hosting a traveling exhibition featuring internationally acclaimed aerial photos that capture the aftermath of the April 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Surrounded by live animals, striking images of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill hang around the Aquarium’s walls. Photographer Daniel Beltrá shot the photos during May and June 2010 on assignment for Greenpeace off the coast of Louisiana. The exhibition featuring Beltrá’s work, SPILL: Images from the Gulf, is on display at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach through January 15, 2012. The public is invited to visit the exhibition at the Southern California aquarium before the images leave the state. Daniel Beltrá was selected as the Wildlife Photographer of the Year for the 2011 Veolia Environment photo contest based on photos from this exhibition. Access to the SPILL exhibition is included with Aquarium admission. Cost: Included with general admission--$24.95 adult (12+), $21.95 senior (62+), $13.95 child (3-11), and free for children under age 3 and Aquarium members. Location: Aquarium of the Pacific, 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802 Info/Tickets: 562-590-3100 or http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/news/story/last_chance_to_see_award_win...
