Bay Shore Librarian Will Be Missed

Perhaps she patiently helped your children check out their first book with their first library card, or helped you locate a missing Books-on-Tape. She probably did both with a friendly wave that said, "you got it."

That was our experience for years with library clerk Cathy Reed. We only learned Cathy's last name reading the following Facebook posting from the Long Beach Public Library this weekend:

"It is with great sadness that LBPL shares the passing of Cathy Reed. Cathy was known as the Clerk Extraordinaire of the Bay Shore Library. Everyone loved her quirky sense of humor and her love of all things library, including the people she worked with and wonderful library patrons.

"Cathy once said that working for the library was like working at a candy store, 'So much to read, so many nice people and so little time!' Our dear friend Cathy will be greatly missed but she will always be in our hearts."

To honor our local library clerk with a heart, please share in our Comments your memories of Cathy Reed.
