Nearly 10,000 People Attend Summer Games to Witness True Feats of Extraordinary

Congratulations to the 1,100 athletes who competed at Summer Games on June 8 and 9 at Cal State Long Beach.

The athletes competed with pride, determination, and courage in six sports including aquatics, athletics, basketball, bocce, golf, and gymnastics. Nearly 10,000 people were in attendance to volunteer, cheer at the competitions, and join the fun.

Special guests included basketball legend Ann Meyers Drysdale, Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter, Paralympic gold medalist April Holmes, Nike's professional skateboarder Omar Salazar, and many more.

It was also a year of firsts. SOSC hosted an inaugural Unity Bocce Ball experience, where people with and without intellectual disabilities partnered to compete on the same team. The Games also featured a Youth Summit, where 60 students and educators from schools all over came to discuss leadership and how they can make an impact.

This event was made possible by thousands of volunteers, coaches, The Vons Foundation and dozens of sponsors.
