Monday Essentials: Back-to-School Deals and Vaccines

1.      School is almost back in session, are your kids up to date on their shots? Check out Long Beach Health and Human Services Department’s website for the vaccines your child needs before school starts. 

2.      Speaking of back to school, Patch has a listing of back-to-school deals so your kid can start school in style and you won’t need to take out a second mortgage. 

3.      If your plans for this weekend include traveling on the San Diego Freeway between San Gabriel River and the Garden Grove freeways, you should look for alternate routes. The Orange County Transportation Authority will be closing part of I-405 to demolish the old State Route 22 connector starting at 9 p.m. Saturday for 20 hours.

5.      Monday is the last day Long Beach residents can submit public comments on the San Diego Freeway Improvement Project. Interstate 405 is one of the most congested freeways in Orange County and traffic is expected to grow by 11 percent by 2040, according to the OCTA.
