5 Things: End of Summer, New Coaches and Coffee with Police

Five things you need to know about Belmont Shore-Naples today.

1.      Long Beach police will hold a Spanish-only “Coffee with the East Division Commander,” during which residents can discuss crime trends, narcotics enforcement and community watch programs with LBPD Cmdr. Paul LeBaron at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 672 Temple Ave.

2.      Long Beach closes out the “100 Days of Summer” season with a free concert by a Journey tribute band, DSB (Don't Stop Believin'), at 6 pm Friday at Blair Field, 4700 Deukmejian Drive. 

3.      In case you missed it, Long Beach City College has a new athletic director, cross country coach, tennis coach and track and field coach. Read about these new coaches and what plans they have for the program at LBCC here.

4.      Chrysalis Stage debuts in Long Beach with the opening of Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen, the famous 19th century Norwegian playwright, at 8 p.m. Friday at the EXPO Arts Center, 4321 Atlantic Ave. The play is about infidelity and possible incest. Tickets range from $15 to $20, with a special opening rate of two for $25.
