Yanez, a nine-year Long Beach Police Department veteran, remains jailed while awaiting arraignment June 20 in Los Angeles Superior Court. Yanez was initially arrested April 19 on suspicion of possessing child pornography. He was re-arrested May 9 in connection with the charges filed last month, which allege crimes between January 2008 and April 13 of this year.

Yanez was suspended without pay after his initial arrest. While earlier statement were that he has since been terminated as a Long Beach city employee, according to Long Beach police Sgt. Aaron Eaton, the department later corrected that statement, saying Yanez remained suspended.
