Long Beach Again Named Top 10 Digital City
The city earns the honor once more after creating new Web sites and improving law enforcement technology.
For the second time, Long Beach has been named a top 10 digital city in a national survey.
The Center for Digital Government's survey concentrates on areas that best show how information and communication technology enhance public service, according to a city press release.
“I’m very proud of the innovative information and communication technologies that we utilize to help reduce costs, enhance efficiencies, better engage the community, and increase the City’s productivity,” said Mayor Bob Foster.

Long Beach has put in place many technological innovations in order to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs, according to the city.
Among the innovations are the Long Beach Common Operating Picture, which combines law enforcement data with real-time camera feeds for improved public safety and the creation of new online services allowing residents to submit code enforcement service requests and obtain various permits online.

The city also launched multiple custom Web sites such as State of the City, Homeless Fund Contribution and Let’s Move Long Beach in an effort to improve community communications, according to the release.
This was the 12th year that the survey was conducted by the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies for state and local government.
