Kid-Literati Descend on Second Street Today

A lively and entertaining afternoon is in store for those who enjoy meeting Kid Lit talent: six authors and illustrators will be signing at Apostrophe Books on Second Street, offering a nice rainy day outing.

Many of the talents in children's books dazzled families Friday night at the sixth annual Lowell Authors & Illustrators Night. The popular free PTA event features several hands-on workshops in which Lowell students and their parents and siblings take a crack at storytelling.

(Patch was on hand to donate book bags, which will be available during the afternoon while supplies last. We don't let raindrops get in the way of a good time).

Apostrophe Books' book signing from 12:30 until 5:30 p.m. offers a different pair of authors and illustrator every 90 minutes. Guests include: 

Lisa Yee, author of 10 novels including the American Girl "Kanani" stories, "Bobby the Brave (Sometimes)" and "Warp Speed."

Basketball player-turned-author and illustrator Matt Beeuswaert, creator of "I Got Game."  

Alva Sachs, author of "I’m Five," "Circus Fever" and "On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!"

Robin Preiss Glasser, illustrator of the "Fancy Nancy" series.  

Julie Jaskol, co-author of "City of Angels."

Bonnie Bright, illustrator of books including "Surf Angel" and "Rabbit’s Foot."
