Foo Fighters Go on Record at Fingerprints

The band celebrates Record Store Day with an intimate show previewing their new album -- at the Long Beach shop that once belonged to Belmont Shore.

Saturday was a day that will go down in Long Beach history.  At 5 p.m. April 16, The Foo Fighters played an incredibly intimate show at the record store, for a very privileged and lucky 200 fans.

“Wow,” I hear you say, “those people must have paid a fortune to get into that show!”  No my friends, they did not.  With the pre-order of the new Foo Fighter album, Wasting Light, those who waited in line on the evening of April 4th received a wristband that granted them the ever-so-elusive entry.  As you can imagine, these wristbands where gone almost before they started passing them out.

Now, how did this event come to pass?  According to property owner Kurt Schneiter, The Foo Fighters approached Rand Foster, owner of Fingerprints, about playing in his store for .  “They wanted to play a record store, and they liked our location," Schneiter said.  "They asked Rand if they could play here and he said, ‘yes.’ Basically, we won the lottery.”

The show was a rocking success.  The crowd seemed to love every minute they got, basking in the glory of Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters.  Fans got to be so close, they could almost feel the sweat-spray as Grohl head-banged his way through the set.  At the end, a lucky few even got guitar picks and drumsticks used during the show; some even got autographs.  This was no ordinary Foo Fighters concert.

Check out the attached video to see the scene (and some very devoted fans) and hear words of wisdom from Dave Grohl himself.  You can even catch a sneak peak of their new album played live.
